Incense Sticks, Cones or Wax Melts? A Straight Answer
If you are standing at the start of this and every option looks much the same, here is the short version: sticks are the gentlest, cones are the strongest, backflow cones are for the visual effect, and wax melts are for anyone who does not want smoke in the house. Incense sticks — the slow, steady default
A stick burns for about twenty-five minutes and releases its fragrance gradually across that whole time. Because the burning surface is small, the scent builds slowly and never arrives all at once. This is what most people want most of the time, and it is why sticks remain the classic choice.
Our sticks are noticeably thicker than the average, which is where that twenty-five minutes comes from. A pack of fourteen gives you close to six hours of fragrance for £4.49.
Choose sticks if you want fragrance in the background rather than the foreground, if you are scenting a medium-sized room, or if you like the ritual of lighting something and watching it go. Browse the incense sticks.
Incense cones — the same burn, far more intensity
A cone burns for about twenty-five minutes too, so it is not the quicker option in the way people expect. What differs is surface area: a cone has far more of it alight at once, so it releases its fragrance much faster and much more intensely across those same twenty-five minutes. A cone will fill a room in a few minutes where a stick takes closer to fifteen.
That makes cones the better choice when you want to change the atmosphere of a room quickly — before guests arrive, say — or when you are scenting a larger space where a stick would struggle. They can be too much for a small bedroom.

Backflow cones — when you want to watch it too
Backflow cones are hollow, which makes their smoke sink rather than rise. Paired with a waterfall burner, the smoke pours downward over the burner in a way that is genuinely lovely to watch.
The important caveat is that they need the right burner — one with a hole in the plate for the smoke to fall through. On a flat dish they behave like ordinary cones. If you already own a waterfall burner, or fancy one, this is the most atmospheric option we make. If you do not, start elsewhere.

Wax melts — fragrance without smoke
Wax melts are the outlier here, because nothing burns. A cube of scented wax sits in a warmer — tealight or electric — and the heat releases the fragrance. No flame, no wick, no smoke, no ash.
That matters more than it sounds. If anyone in the house is sensitive to smoke, if you have pets that react badly to incense, if you rent somewhere with strict rules, or if you simply want fragrance in a bedroom or nursery overnight, wax melts solve a problem the other three cannot.
They also last far longer per unit — roughly twelve hours of fragrance per cube, against twenty-five minutes for a stick. Browse the wax melts.
A quick way to decide
Want fragrance in the background for an hour or two, in a normal-sized room? Sticks. Need to change a room's atmosphere quickly, or scenting something large? Cones. Own a waterfall burner, or want something to watch? Backflow. Cannot have smoke, or want twelve hours from one piece? Wax melts.

Buy a bundle. This is not a sales line — it is the honest answer to a problem that is unusually acute with fragrance, which is that you cannot smell anything through a screen.
